Echter Eibisch
Echter Eibisch Althaea officinalis. Jeder kennt die Malve und der nicht ganz so spektakuläre Echte Eibisch wird etwas vergessen.
Die Malven gehören zur Gattung Malva, Echter Eibisch zur Gattung Althaea und der als Garten-Eibisch bezeichnete Zierstrauch der gerne in Gärten gepflanzt wird, ist eigentlich ein Hibiskus.
Während Malva und Althaea heilende Schleimstoffe enthalten, ist Hibiskus zwar eine schöne erfrischende Schmuckdroge in Tees, hat aber nicht die reizlindernde Wirkung, sondern ist im Gegenteil durch seine Säurehaltigkeit eher schleimhautreizend.
Während die Schleimstoffe bei der Malve in Blüten und Blättern enthalten sind, sind beim Eibisch die meisten Schleimstoffe in der Wurzel.
Schleimstoffe lindern Entzündungen in Mund- und Rachen, sind hilfreich bei Sodbrennen und Magenschleimhautentzündungen, da sie einhüllend wie ein Schutzfilm wirken. Zur Reizlinderung bei Husten, Heiserkeit da sie befeuchten und so trockenen, quälenden Hustenreiz lindern.
Eibischwurzel muss kalt angesetzt werden um die Schleimstoffe nicht zu zerstören.
Man kann auch Tinktur und Sirup aus Eibischwurzel herstellen.
Allerdings neigen Schleimstoffe zum Schimmeln und man muss hier sehr umsichtig sein.
Wie die Malve können auch Blätter, Blüten sowie die Samen für gesunde kulinarische Genüsse verwendet werden.
Eins der ältesten Hustenbonbos bei Reizhusten sind kleine Stückchen der getrockneten Wurzel zu lutschen oder zu kauen.
Der Echte Eibisch wird immer seltener und ist in der Natur geschützt. Grund genug uns diese herrliche Heilpflanze in den Garten zu holen. Bei mir samt er sich auch gerne aus und ich freue mich jedesmal wenn ich plötzlich irgendwo seine steil hochragennde Gestalt mit der ersten Blüte entdecke.
